This scholarship covers your tuition and mandatory program fees (regular program) offered at standard tuition rates.
Under this scholarship, mandatory fees are the fees that all students are required to pay in order to be registered or to maintain their registration.
Here is a list of approved mandatory fees:
- Athletic fees
- BA-ABA course fees (for the intensive practicum stream of the UNB ABA credit on-campus program, to offset the costs of delivery and supervision responsibilities for the practicum completion requirement.)
- Building access card fees
- Campus fees
- Campus recreation fees
- Campus renewal fees
- Cosmetology association of New Brunswick Fees (CANB)
- Exam fees
*are covered except if the exam fees are charged after the student has completed their program. Example, if the exam is not a requirement for the student to receive their program credentials, the exam fee would not be covered (i.e., a licensing exam fee).
- Facility improvement fees
- Facility access fees
- Field trip fees/cost (example Buyers’ Expo)
*are only covered if the field trip is a requirement for the completion of a mandatory course or the program itself.
- Fitness facility fee
- Graduation (Grad) fees
- Lab fees
- Library acquisition contribution fees
- Mail service fees
- Mandatory extra certification (cannot be opt-out of)
Example: the Canadian Red Cross First Responder Course and Non-violent Crisis Intervention course for students in programs such as the Paramedic course at Omni Life Support and OLS Academy.
- Media fees (campus-community radio stations, radio broadcasts, student newspapers, newspaper publishers.) Example: CHSR/CFMH, CHSR FM, CFMH FM, formerly CRSJ, CHMA, The Brunswickan (Bruns), The Baron, Argosy Publications Inc
- OALP tech fee
- Occupational training legislation fees
- Online fees
- Orientation fees
*are only covered when all students must pay them even if they are not taking part in orientation activities.
- Physical testing fees
*are only covered if the testing is mandatory for the study-program.
- Practicum fees
- Primary care paramedic (PCP) fees
- Recreation and sports activity fees
- Student association fees
- Student fees
- Student protection fees (POTA)
*All students enrolled in a registered program with a Private Training Institution are required to pay a 1% Student Protection Fee, which is submitted by the training organization to the Department of Post-secondary Education, Training and Labour.

Under this scholarship, the following are NOT considered mandatory fees, and as such are NOT COVERED.
- Acrylic, gelous, cosmetology fees (for aesthetics program)
- Books
- Computers, laptops, cellphones and tablets
- Deposit / seat deposit / confirmation deposit / confirmation fees / registration
- Field trip fees/cost (example Buyers’ Expo)
*are only covered if the field trip is a requirement for the completion of a mandatory course or the program itself.
- Health and dental
*Most health and dental you can opt out if you have personal coverage.
- ID Cards
- Lockers, locks, combination locks, and student record storage
- Meal plans
- Optional fees
- Orientation fees
*are only covered when all students must pay them even if they are not taking part in orientation activities.
- Parking permits
- Physical testing fees
*are only covered if the testing is mandatory for the study-program.
- Residence fees
- Special clothing, shoes, boots, uniforms, gloves, hard hat and safety vest, coveralls, rain suit
*these items are not covered even if mandatory for your program
- Trade tools, aesthetics/cosmetology and hair salon tools, equipment and products (most things included in ‘kits’)
Example: Safety kits, stethoscope, shears, penlight, tweezers, cuticle tools, skin care products, brow lamination, microdermabrasion, Advanced Photo Therapy IPL System, competition mannequin heads, clippers, trimmers, nail files, creams, wax pot etc.
- Welcome week kit and new student orientation
*At some institutions, you can opt out of receiving the kit and out of the orientation activities, but you must do so BEFORE the start of Welcome Week.
*If you can opt out even if not prominently advertised, it is not covered under this scholarship.
